The airport has flight and plane information as well as local aviation information.
Located off of Eastman road, near the Midland County Fairgrounds, lies The Midland Barstow Airport. Moved to its present day location in 1950, the municipal airport is owned by the City of Midland. The airport houses approximately 70 airplanes that range in size and vary from factory built to homemade.

The airport is named after John "Jack" Barstow, whose interest in aviation stemmed from the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk. Born in Midland in 1905, he worked for The Dow Chemical Company to help develop the commercial aeronautical applications of magnesium, known as Dowmetal. In 1933, he began a sky taxi business for quick service to the Chicago World Fair. The life of Barstow came to a tragic end during an airplane collision.

The airport has various runways for safe landings.
The airport is the home of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association), a nonprofit international activity oriented organization of people who enjoy flying and the activities it has to offer. The EAA established a program named Young Eagles, in which it introduces children, ages 8 through 17, to the joys of aviation. The mission of the Midland EAA is

“...to establish and maintain an Aviation Center offering educational and hands-on experiences devoted to aircraft, flight and space. It is intended to serve persons of all ages with the emphasis on youth and the career opportunities in the field of aviation.”

Airplanes like these take off daily during good weather.

Weather permitting, the Young Eagles fly every second Saturday of each month at the Jack Barstow Airport from 9 a.m. until noon.
